Phil Wickham is celebrating two decades as a signed artist, and if his new album Songs of the Saints proves anything, it’s that he’s nowhere near slowing down. The record, his tenth studio album, clocks in at 16 tracks—an ambitious swing in an era where most artists stick to singles and EPs. Wickham is still writing like a man with something to say, and still pulling in the kind of chart numbers most worship artists dream of.

“I’ve never been more excited or proud of a record,” Wickham says. “Every single song from my new album Songs Of The Saints holds so much meaning and testimony for me. My heart is bursting not only to sing them to people, but to sing them with people.”

The album includes the hits “The King Is In The Room,” “What An Awesome God,” “Homesick For Heaven,” and the title track, all of which have already made their mark on radio and worship setlists. “What An Awesome God” has been the standout, topping five different charts and holding the No. 1 spot on Mediabase Christian Audience for seven straight weeks. “What An Awesome God” lifts the chorus from what CCM Magazine once crowned the greatest song in Christian music history: Rich Mullins’ “Awesome God.” Is that CCM blasphemy? Maybe, if you ask the hardcore Mullins disciples, but the church isn’t seeing any controversy. They’ve already made Wickham’s update a chart-topping smash, shouting it from arenas and Sunday services like it’s brand new. Purists can roll their eyes, but the audience has already voted with their voices. It’s actually been nice to hear that familiar chorus return to the pews.

Earlier this year, “The King Is In The Room” climbed just as quickly, giving Wickham the rare feat of landing two songs in the Top 10 at once.

What’s striking is that after twenty years and billions of streams, Wickham still sounds restless—in the best way. He’s collaborating with Brandon Lake and Elevation Worship (“So So Good”), packing out arenas on the Summer Worship Nights tour, and gearing up for a nationwide headlining run on the Air1 Worship Now Tour this fall with Charity Gayle, Josh Baldwin, and Benjamin William Hastings. For an artist with Dove Awards, GRAMMY nods, and modern worship staples already under his belt, the fire clearly hasn’t dimmed.

“This year marks twenty years that I’ve been a signed artist, and this album is my tenth official studio album,” Wickham says. “Even after two decades and all those songs, I’m more thankful and fired up than I ever have been to be a part of people’s lives through music. As long as people keep listening, I’ll keep shouting from the rooftops about how amazing Jesus is and how He rescued my soul.”

Songs of the Saints also reflects Wickham’s instinct to keep stretching the boundaries of worship music. The tracklist mixes vertical anthems like “What An Awesome God” and “Able” with intimate moments like “Flowers” and “Because He Lives (Moment).” There’s even a curveball with “What If I Told You,” a track that samples a Billy Graham sermon. It’s the kind of risk most artists in the genre wouldn’t attempt—but Wickham’s career has always been about blending reverence with accessibility.

For longtime fans, Wickham’s new record is a reminder of why his songs have become Sunday morning staples in churches around the world. For newcomers, Songs of the Saints is a crash course in why he’s one of the most consistent voices modern worship has produced. Either way, twenty years in, Wickham isn’t just staying in the room—he’s still leading it.

Songs of the Saints is available now on all platforms.
